About me, Jonathan Pinlac

Hello and thanks for visiting Level Self. The main purpose of this blog is to share my journey to find personal balance. The challenge for myself is balancing personal aspirations, parenthood, relationships, health, and financial security. To add to the difficulty I'm a college dropout suffering from ADHD and anxiety. The road has been rough and I hope my personal experience may help others navigate their own paths.

Another personal belief of mine is that it's important to cultivate curiosity. I'm a big fan of leaving space in your life to be bored and explore. For a while I chased productivity and efficiency and it ended up backfiring on me. Not everything you do needs to have a greater purpose. Considering that, expect posts about a multitude of topics. My interests are all over the place ranging from life, parenting (one daughter and two pairs of cats and dogs), psychology, culture, productivity, music, community, cooking, racing, finance, business, gardening, and design.

I used to want to be a subject matter expert on all of these things. After actually being a parent, my expectations are smaller and my focus has narrowed a bit. Nowadays I'm pretty happy with small wins here and there, but I have to make sure to remember those wins! Writing helps with that and is another motivating factor for this blog.

In addition to articles and blog posts, the site will be a playground for various attempts at organizing information and hopefully presenting it in an elegant way.
